Liu Mental Health Counseling offers culturally attuned, evidence-based mental health care for adults navigating anxiety, trauma, identity, and life transitions — with specialization in BIPOC communities and perinatal wellness.
Liu Mental Health Counseling was founded on the understanding that cultural context shapes mental health, and that healing happens when your therapist truly gets where you're coming from.
We are a group of licensed clinicians with advanced training in trauma, perinatal mental health, and identity-affirming care. We serve clients via telehealth throughout New York, Vermont, and Florida.
Whether you're a first-generation American, a new parent navigating postpartum, or someone who's spent years feeling like therapy "wasn't built for you" — you belong here.
Evidence-based care woven with cultural humility, across four core areas.
Therapy that holds space for your whole identity — including the weight of racism, immigration, intergenerational trauma, and the particular exhaustion of code-switching. We don't ask you to leave your culture at the door.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective, evidence-based approach for healing from trauma, PTSD, and distressing life events. Our therapists guide you at a pace that feels safe.
Specialized support through pregnancy, postpartum, perinatal loss, fertility challenges, and the profound identity shift of becoming a parent. You deserve more than "it will get better."
From high-functioning anxiety to persistent low mood, we help you understand the patterns beneath your symptoms and build lasting tools using CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic approaches tailored to you.

Marcus Webb is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a specialty in working with Black and multiracial men navigating anxiety, depression, identity, and the particular pressures of showing up in a world that rarely makes space for their emotional lives.
He earned his graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from New York University and brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to his work. Marcus is known for his direct, non-judgmental style — a rare combination of warmth and honesty that clients describe as refreshing.
Marcus uses an integrative approach drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and narrative therapy. He helps clients untangle the stories they have been told about themselves — and begin to write their own.
Marcus believes that for many men — especially Black and multiracial men — the hardest part of therapy is walking in the door. His goal is to make that first step, and every step after it, feel worth it.
Anxiety and depression · Identity development · Black and multiracial men · Relationship patterns · Work and career stress · CBT and ACT · Narrative therapy
To schedule an intake appointment with Marcus, reach out by phone, text, or email.
Sofia Reyes is a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor fluent in both English and Spanish. She specializes in working with Latina and Latinx adults navigating acculturation stress, relationship challenges, anxiety, and the emotional weight of living between two cultural worlds.
Sofia holds her graduate degree from Fordham University's Graduate School of Social Service and has worked in community mental health and private practice settings across New York City. Her clinical approach draws on psychodynamic theory, relational therapy, and culturally informed frameworks that center the whole person — not just the symptom.
She works with clients who are first- or second-generation immigrants, adult children of immigrants, and anyone whose cultural identity plays a central role in how they experience themselves and their relationships.
Sofia brings a particular warmth to her work — a belief that the therapeutic relationship itself is healing. She holds space for the full complexity of her clients' lives, including the parts that don't translate easily into any one language.
Latinx mental health · Acculturation and immigration stress · Relationship challenges · Anxiety · Family dynamics · Bilingual therapy (English and Spanish) · Psychodynamic and relational therapy
To schedule an intake appointment with Sofia, reach out by phone, text, or email.
Jordan Kim is a Mental Health Counselor Licensed Permittee practicing under clinical supervision at Liu Mental Health Counseling. They specialize in working with Asian American young adults, college students, and individuals navigating family dynamics, intergenerational trauma, and identity formation.
Jordan earned their graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling from The New School and brings a deeply affirming, collaborative presence to their work. They are passionate about creating therapeutic spaces where LGBTQ+ clients, neurodivergent clients, and first-generation college students feel genuinely welcome.
Jordan's clinical approach integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic awareness practices, and attachment-informed relational work. They help clients develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves — especially when self-criticism has become a coping strategy.
Jordan believes that healing doesn't require you to become someone different — it requires becoming more fully yourself. They bring curiosity, patience, and genuine care to every session.

Amara Osei is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in perinatal mental health, maternal wellness, and reproductive transitions. She supports Black women and women of color through some of the most profound and vulnerable periods of their lives — pregnancy, postpartum, perinatal loss, and the identity transformation of becoming a parent.
Amara holds her graduate degree from Hunter College and has dedicated her clinical career to addressing the significant gaps in mental health support for Black mothers and birthing people. She is deeply familiar with the ways systemic racism, implicit bias, and cultural silence around maternal mental health compound the challenges her clients face.
Her approach draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, grief-informed practice, and strong relational attunement, working with clients experiencing postpartum depression or anxiety, pregnancy loss, fertility grief, and the emotional complexity of new parenthood.
Amara believes every mother deserves to be mothered through her hardest moments. Her work is rooted in the conviction that Black women's emotional pain is real, valid, and worthy of the very best care.
Perinatal and postpartum mood disorders · Pregnancy and infant loss · Fertility and reproductive grief · Maternal identity · Black maternal mental health · CBT · Grief-informed therapy

David Huang is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with specialized training in EMDR, OCD treatment, and burnout recovery. He works primarily with adults — many of them high-achieving professionals — who are struggling with the gap between how they appear to the world and how they actually feel inside.
David holds his graduate degree from Columbia University's School of Social Work and has worked in both clinical and corporate wellness settings. He understands the particular exhaustion of people who are doing everything right and still cannot seem to feel okay.
His clinical work draws on EMDR for trauma processing, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, and psychodynamic exploration for clients seeking deeper understanding of their patterns. He also brings cultural sensitivity to his work with Asian American clients navigating perfectionism, family obligation, and achievement pressure.
David believes the most courageous thing a high achiever can do is ask for help. He brings structure, warmth, and clinical precision to every session — and a genuine investment in helping clients reconnect with the parts of themselves that performance culture tends to bury.
EMDR trauma processing · OCD and ERP · Burnout and work stress · High-achieving professionals · Asian American mental health · Perfectionism and identity · Psychodynamic therapy

Effective Date: January 1, 2022 (No Surprises Act) · Last Updated: January 1, 2025
Under the No Surprises Act (effective January 1, 2022), healthcare providers are required to provide uninsured or self-pay patients with a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before services are provided.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including mental health therapy. This right applies if you are uninsured or if you choose not to use your insurance for our services.
This estimate is provided to help you understand and budget for your healthcare expenses. It does not require you to obtain care from Liu Mental Health Counseling, and you are free to seek care from other providers.
The following are expected session fees for self-pay clients at Liu Mental Health Counseling PLLC. Actual costs may vary depending on your assigned provider and the specific services rendered.
If you use insurance, your actual out-of-pocket costs (copays, coinsurance, deductibles) will depend on your specific plan. We recommend contacting your insurer to verify your mental health benefits prior to your first session.
The Good Faith Estimate is based on information known at the time of scheduling. It includes the cost of all scheduled services but does not account for unforeseen clinical circumstances that may arise during your care. The frequency and duration of therapy are individualized and will be discussed collaboratively with your therapist.
Therapy frequency and duration are determined collaboratively with your therapist based on your clinical needs and goals. Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or bi-weekly. The total number of sessions varies by individual — short-term work may involve 12–20 sessions, while some clients engage in longer-term therapy.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill. Contact us within 120 days of receiving the bill to request a review. For more information about your rights regarding surprise billing and the dispute process, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.
To request a personalized Good Faith Estimate prior to scheduling, please contact us:
